He Is All Ears!

Reason # 4:  You can count it all joy because God always hears you when you pray!

In fact, according to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, the entry for the word hear means “to listen to with attention—to heed or attend to.” In other words, when you pray God is paying attention!

Scripture reminds us that “the Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth” (Psalm 145:18 NKJV). Prayer is the way you “call upon” God by pouring out your heart and soul before Him. When you pray, you can rest assured that He hears you for 3 key reasons:

(1)   You are in ‘right standing’ with Him: if you are a believer, you have been made the righteousness of God in Christ. It is a free gift to anyone who has placed their faith in God’s son Jesus Christ. The righteous person can come boldly to God in prayer without fear of their past, present, and/or future messes, mistakes or mishaps. In practical terms, the gift of righteousness allows you to make free and unlimited calls to God in prayer. We know He is definitely listening because Scripture tells us “the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry [prayer]” (Psalm 34:15 NKJV).

(2)   He is a merciful God: God listens to our prayers because He desires to pour out His goodness and mercy upon us. “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning” (Lamentation 3:22 NKJV).

(3)   He wants to help you out of your “troubles”: God has a vested interest in helping you out. He wants to lead, guide and instruct you in the affairs of everyday life. When we pray we give Him an opportunity to help us. He then gives us His wisdom to make the right decisions and puts us in the path of people that have an answer to the problems that we are facing.

God not only wants us to talk to Him in prayer but He also wants to talk back to us. Effective communication with God requires the daily disciplines of praying, reading the Bible and meditating upon the scriptures.

To jump-start this dialogue with God, we will begin a 31-day devotional challenge on Friday, August 6th.  The text will be The Count It All Joy Quiet Time Companion from our devotional series which is available online from Amazon.com.

If you are interested in participating please leave a comment  below letting us know what you hope to get out of the challenge. Details and additional information will be posted online on Friday August 6. We look forward to your participation.
