It’s Rather Dark In Here…

Reason #6: You can count it all joy because your light will overcome the darkness!

Ever been thrown into the lion’s den for speaking the truth? When you make a decision to stand up for what is right don’t be surprised if you end up facing persecution! Doing what is right is not always popular but the rewards are great. Just like Daniel was a man of great integrity and commitment so must you and I be when we encounter adversity in our lives.

Hard times come to all of us but the measure of a man or woman is not what you say but what you do in times of struggle. Daniel purposed in his heart that he would remain true to himself and his beliefs (Daniel 1:8, NKJV) and in the end he found favor in the sight of God and man. Because of Daniel’s excellent spirit and willingness to stand for the truth he changed an entire nation.

The King was so impressed by Daniel’s miraculous release from prison and the mouth of the lion that he issued a new decree for all men in his kingdom to worship the God of Daniel (Daniel 7:26 NKJV). When we stand for what is right our life is living proof of our convictions but also of our God. Even if we find ourselves in the lion’s den we too can trust God to deliver us and vindicate us from all wrong.

So the next time  you find yourself in the lion’s den don’t worry. Yes, it might be rather dark in there but that doesn’t mean you’re alone. God can reach into that circumstance and turn even your greatest enemies into your greatest advocates. Remember, it’s always darkest before the dawn!
