The words of the American Constitution are beautiful when read in it’s unvarnished state. “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness-”

I am on Day # 60 of my 100 Days Challenge of Counting It All Joy, and it is Independence Day!

I am Counting It All Joy today as I Celebrate Independence Day. For I realize that I am living in a Country where I can experience certain rights and privileges but never without taking responsibility and accountability. Independence is not my license to say or do whatever I please. It is rather a sober reminder and a charge to maintain the principles upon which our Nation was built. “We hold these truths to be self- evident that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life,liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Declaration of Independence as originally written by Thomas Jefferson, 1776, ME 1:29 Papers 1:315 

The idea of this basic principle of equality was never intended to change between Then and Now! Merriam Webster dictionary defines the word Unalienable as ” impossible to take away or give up.” So as we gather all across this nation to celebrate this special holiday, let us remember the heart and words of our founding fathers. Let us endeavor to never oppress or take away basic human rights. Let us walk in love with one another. Let us pursue peace. But above all, let us daily use our freedom to serve humanity and always do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

Day # 35: Of 100 Days Of Counting It All Joy.

I can Count It All Joy because I have given Happiness a new definition.

I am up early! And I have made it to Day # 35 of my 100 Days Challenge of Counting It all Joy. During this challenge, I have had a few laughs, disappointments,frustrations and accusations. I have even seen so much unrehearsed drama on my job that I considered calling HOLLYWOOD to come and do a MOVIE! I have learned that my environment can influence me, but I don’t have to allow it to define or change me. My conclusion is that my happiness is not based on what happens to me or around me, but how I choose to respond.

~My Definition Of Happy Is~

H-earing God’s Voice

A-ppling His Word

P-raying without ceasing

P- lanning more wisely

Y- ielding to the Holy Spirit

~My Definition Of Happy Times includes~

Family

Friends

And Good conversations

          LORD:

Lord, never let me waiver at Your promises,
And never let me accept life problems the way it is.

Lord, never let me grow weary in my daily walk,

And never let me stumble aimlessly in the dark.
Lord, never let me fail to declare that Your Word is true,

And never let me focus on the things that I have been through.

Lord, never let me forget to give Honor and Glory to You,

For on the wings of Your Grace;

You will Carry me Through!

I Am Holding Steadfast:

Whenever we lose anything that was of great value to us it is normal to mourn or feel sad. But there comes a time when we have to make a DECISION to take off those old grave clothes and keep on pressing. For any extended period of grieving and mourning over ANYONE or ANYTHING will derail our destiny and become detrimental to our soul and physical wellbeing. 

After our NIGHT of weeping is over, we need to  have hope that our MORNING of joy is coming. “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.” Hebrews 6:19 (NLT)

Joy is really a God-given gift that we have the ability to nurture from the inside out. Happiness on the other hand is something that we constantly have to chase after. Unfortunately, we can never fully catch it  because it is fleeting and ‘Always’ dependent on our surroundings and natural circumstances.

But while we may never be able to fully control all of the natural circumstances of life, we can keep hope alive as we hold steadfast to the Hand that will never change and the steady Rock that will never move!

I am holding steadfast to the hand that will never change.

And the steady Rock that will never move.

I am holding steadfast to the One,

Who spoke and still the storm,

And gave me the courage to carry on.


I am holding steadfast to the One,

Who has set me free;

The Gift Of Life

Day # 3: Today you can be thankful for the gift of life

No one can ever promise to give us everything that we want. Only our Creator can commit to supply the things that we truly need. In reality, it is not everything that we want that we really need. What we need most is a heart that is thankful for the gift of life and the basic provision of food, clothing and shelter.

Begin today with a quiet moment of reflection:

~Only By Grace~

Lord, when I reflect back on my life,
And how I had gone astray;
I know it was only by Your grace,
That I came to walk Your way.
Lord, the hunger that I once did know.
No one could satisfy.
And until Your life was breathed in me,
My sinfulness I could not see.
So I have come now Lord to testify,
That Jesus is the way.
And without the presence of the Lord,
There will be no brighter day.
For until I was truly born again,
And circumcised in heart;
My search for truth and happiness ,
Was only just a futile quest.

Happiness Is An Illusion

We are living in a time where our value system is constantly been challenged. There is no longer a distinction between right and wrong. Rudeness has replaced kindness and criticism has replaced true compassion.The motto of our  day is ‘Get all that you can and do Whatever makes you Happy.’ 

But Happiness is such an illusion. It is, “The state or fact of being intellectually deceived or misled.” (Merriam Webster Dictionary ). The real deception lies in the fact that we strive so hard to get what we crave, yet as soon we achieve it  another burning desire will begin to cry out for our attention. It seems that no amount of our earthly professions or possessions can fully satisfy the deeper longing of the soul. This is a void that only the Creator and Master Architect can fill.

However, there is a true joy of living that comes not from Getting but from Giving our gifts, talents and resources to make this world a better place to live. It is comes from drawing a line in the sand and resolving to stand. For when it comes to our values  and convictions it should always be a non-negotiable deal.

                I am drawing a line in the Sand,
                And I am resolving to Stand;
                For regardless of what I see and feel….
                When it comes to my values,
                It is a non-negotiable deal!
